Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park First called the beautiful highlands by the Plains Cree, French Canadian fur traders named the area "Cypress" in the early 1800's. They mistook the lodgepole pines for the cypress or jack pine of eastern Canada. Encompassing both the park and private ranch lands, the Cypress Hills is a world of high forested hills, panoramic views, quiet valleys and cool clean air.

Fort Walsh National Historic Park During its short but colourful existence, Fort Walsh helped bring law and order to the West and the stamp of Canadian sovereignty to a vast territory that was then the topic of annexation among some American politicians. This is the place where Chief Sitting Bull and Major James Walsh shared an historic peace-pipe ceremony, agreeing to a repatriation plan that included amnesty for Sitting Bull and the Sioux.
| T-Rex Dinosaur Discovery Centre, Eastend In the area around Eastend, bones of triceratops, duck-billed dinosaurs and other ancient beasts have been found in the fossil-rich valleys and hills. A few years ago, this area drew international attention with the discovery of a near-complete Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton, later named Scotty, one of only 14 in the world.
