The players

This musical project showcases the individual and combined talents of Pachi and Lia as Dúo Cofradía, a husband and wife jazz duo on guitar and vocals; guitarist Iosvany (Chichi) Martinez from the traditional band Septeto Eleyé; and David López Garabito, El Señor de las Tumbadoras, on a variety of percussion instruments.

* Eusebio (Pachi) Ruiz and Liamer (Lia) Llorente, performing together for over a decade, have regular billing at Trinidad’s famed Casa de la Trova. Playing original material along with compelling arrangements of traditional Cuban music, the duo’s jazz guitar and vocals captivated audiences across Europe on a recent six-month tour. In addition to performing, they are both professional music educators who will be available for concerts, workshops and individual lessons for all ages.

* Isovany (Chichi) Martinez, manager and lead guitarist in the Trinidad band Septeto Eleyé,  is a master guitarist of traditional son music performing regularly in Teatro Brunet. Increased interest in world music has brought Cuban music, especially traditional styles like son, into the limelight. Along with performances, Chichi will also be available for workshops and individual lessons.

* In a country that attracts people from all over the world to study percussion, David López Garabito is respected and acknowledged as a master drummer and educator by his peers in Trinidad’s music community and beyond. He has played with a number of groups over the years, and currently his mesmerizing solo performances are a regular feature in Trinidad’s Teatro Brunet and the Casa de la Musica. Specializing in congas, David will be available for workshops and individual lessons in addition to performances.

Hecho en Cuba ~ Fusión Trinitaria will be touring Western Canada between July 1st to August 27th.
