I have lived most of my life here in the Cypress Hills as I was born in Maple Creek in 1955 and grew up on a ranch just 2 kms from where I  now own and operate the Spring Valley Guest Ranch. I finished high school at Eastend and then attended the Lethbridge Community College and graduated in Environmental Science in 1975. After working as a park historical interpreter until 1981, I changed careers and worked in retail in Saskatoon until 1988. I always wanted to own my own business so in the fall of 1988, I bought and moved the Beny house from Irvine Alberta to it's present location.

I enjoy the hospitality industry and working with the public but I also love animals and especially domesticated livestock so I have also been active in doing my small part in helping preserve rare and heritage breeds of dairy cattle and chickens. I made artisan cheeses using my unique blend of milk produced by my own cows from 2009 - 2012. Some of the cattle breeds you will see here are Ancient White Park, Milking Shorthorn, Normandy, Kerry and Jersey and Light Brown Leghorn and Red Dorking chickens.

In 2013 I purchased an upholstery business and so now I also do upholstery repair on vehicles and furniture and I enjoy making and designing costumes. The Steampunk Sensation Fashion show Festival was created in 2016 and I hope to host the show again with a couple of additional costumes celebrating Canada's 150th birthday. I enjoy meeting and hosting people from all around the world and sharing my property with those who appreciate nature and animals and the quiet and tranquility that is associated with this isolated spot in the Cypress Hills.
